After more than 15 years of dedicated service, we bade a heartfelt farewell to our Chair of Trustees, James Alexander, in July. James has been an integral part of The School & Family Works, guiding the charity with wisdom and kindness over a period in which five Prime Ministers have come and gone.
When we launched, back in 2010, most social enterprises, as we were then constituted, didn’t last more than four years. Despite the difficult years of ‘austerity’ policies, James has led our incremental growth from an organisation working with three schools to our current status, partnering twelve primary schools in multi-family interventions, running a surplus food project and other community-oriented interventions.
As we say goodbye, we do so with immense gratitude for everything James has given to the charity, and with warm wishes for what comes next.
Mark Griffiths, CEO, says:
"Personally, I shall miss James deeply. His long experience in the third sector, and prior success in the corporate world, ensured he always offered wise counsel. Truly compassionate, James also has that driving edge to get things done to right wrongs. We’ve been so fortunate to have enjoyed his Chairmanship for so long."
James leaves behind a legacy of impact, and he will always be a valued part of the SFW family.
